2020 Production
Flow Root
Every production begins with an initial idea. Yet once the creative process unfolds, various influences often lead the work toward unexpected paths. This experience repeatedly occurs throughout the process of artistic creation.
Floating Roots was originally choreographed by Artistic Director Huang Wen-Jen in 2015 as a 25-minute piece. The initial concept incorporated mirrors, allowing audiences to view the performance from multiple reflected perspectives.
In 2020, Huang revisited the work and re-examined its structure and content. With the passage of time came new ideas and perspectives. The revised work, Flow Root, develops the concept of bodies floating and existing together, exploring themes of coexistence and shared presence through the physicality of the body.
